

DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Kyle Day
Kyle Day was born and raised in Central Texas, and is currently the Director of Bands at Long Creek High School. Ensembles under his direction have received best in class awards, and distinctions at the local, state, and national level. Before coming to Long Creek, he served as the Associate Director of Bands at New Braunfels HS for 8 years. In 2024, he was selected as the NBISD Fine Arts Teacher of Year. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Studies from Texas State University and a Masters in Music Education from the University of North Texas. Kyle’s professional affiliations include Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He and his wife Kate reside in New Braunfels with their daughter Kora and their two dogs, Stella and Mally.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Tristan Rivera
Tristan Rivera is entering seventh year teaching and his first as an Assistant Band Director at Long Creek High School in New Braunfels, Texas. He currently teaches the non-varsity band and assists with the sub non-varsity band and jazz band. Prior to Long Creek, he was an Assistant Director of Bands for 6 years at Canyon Ridge Middle School in Leander ISD where he conducted the Symphonic Band and taught the beginning saxophone, trumpet, and horn classes.
He is a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio. Mr. Rivera earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio where he was under the baton of Professor Ron Ellis and Dr. John Zarco. He also had the privilege of studying trumpet with Dr. Joseph Cooper.
Mr. Rivera has experience in the marching arts as well. He currently serves on the brass staff at the Santa Clara Vanguard as a mellophone tech. He has also served on the brass staffs for The Cadets and Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps. Prior to that, he was a four-year marching member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, based out of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, aging out in 2018 as horn sergeant.
Outside of the band hall, Mr. Rivera enjoys travelling, running, coffee, and cooking (and eating) and got married in June 2021 to his long time sweetheart, Sydney Scooler-Rivera, a fellow band director and Carolina Crown alum. They reside in San Antonio with their cat, Olive.

PERCUSSION DIRECTOR
Analisa Gonzalez
Analisa Gonzalez is originally from the small town of Bandera, Texas. Following her passion for music at a young age, she went on to pursue a major in music education at Stephen F. Austin University and Texas State University, with a primary focus in percussion.
Analisa also served as the Percussion Director at Lehman High School in Kyle, TX. The percussion ensemble earned numerous high percussion awards in both marching band and indoor percussion competitions. This past year she served as the Percussion Director at New Braunfels HS, where the Unicorn Percussion achieved awards in both marching and concert.
Analisa is a proud endorser of Innovative Percussion and Sabian Cymbals.

COLOR GUARD DIRECTOR
Chloe Uelman
Born and raised in New Braunfels, Texas, Chloe began her color guard journey at New Braunfels HS. Outside of high school, Chloe marched Origins Colorguard and the Phantom Regiment. In academics, Chloe graduated from the University of Texas at Austin where she received her B.S. in Psychology with Highest Honors. Before coming to Long Creek, Chloe resided in Austin, Texas where she was the Assistant Color Guard Director at McNeil High School, and she has worked as a technician and choreographer for various high school programs. Chloe also has the pleasure of being on staff for Origins Open Colorguard and Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps. In her personal life, Chloe loves reading, listening to music, and cracking jokes with friends.

NBMS DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Jeffrey Keyes
Jeffrey Keyes is currently in his first year serving as the Band Director at New Braunfels Middle School. The New Braunfels MS Dragon Band just set a new school record for the number of bands earning sweepstakes in one year with four concert bands earning straight 1s at UIL Concert and Sight Reading.
Prior to New Braunfels Middle School, Mr. Keyes spent 5 years as Director of Bands at Davenport High School (4A) where he served since the school opened in Fall of 2020. During that time the Davenport High School marching band was a three-time UIL State Marching Band Finalist, earning a bronze medal in 2024. The Wolf Band advanced to finals in the TMEA Honor Band Competition in 2024, finishing 7th place in the state. In 2025, the Davenport Band had seven pieces advance to state in the Association of Small School Bands Outstanding Performance Series competition, setting a new record for the most pieces advancing to state from one school in a single year in the 28 years of the competition. Three of the pieces that advanced were announced as winners in their category at the state level. During Mr. Keyes’ tenure at Davenport HS, students earned 17 chairs in the ATSSB All-State Bands and 5 Outstanding Soloist medals at the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Prior to serving at Davenport High School, Mr. Keyes served as Director of Bands at Judson High School (6A) in Converse, TX for six years. While serving as Director of Bands at Judson HS, the marching band was named the Grand Champion at seven marching competitions and has won numerous other class and caption awards. In 2018 the Judson HS Varsity Concert Band advanced to the state level in the Texas Music Educators Association 6A Honor Band Competition, finishing 15th in the state. The program had numerous multi-year Texas Music Educator Association 6A All-State Band Members.
Mr. Keyes earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education from Texas State University. Mr. Keyes marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004 and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005 and 2006, winning a championship in 2006.
Mr. Keyes is married, and has two sons, Joshua (12) and Elias (9), and a French Bulldog, Pawl. In his free time, he runs ultramarathons.

NBMS ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR/PERCUSSION DIRECTOR
Haley Wares
Haley Wares started teaching at New Braunfels Middle School in 2019. Over the years she has taught the Symphonic and Honor bands, percussion ensembles for each level, steel drum ensemble, as well as beginner trombone, trumpet, and percussion classes. Under her direction, the NBMS Symphonic band recently participated in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation, earning a Sweepstakes distinction.
Ms. Wares is a graduate of Texas State University with a B.M. in Music Education, and served as drum captain in the marching band. She also marched several seasons of Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International. The DCI groups she competed with are Genesis 2016 (snare) and Crossmen 2017 (snare). WGI groups include 5 Points 2016 (marimba), Violet Crown 2017 (snare), and Monarch 2018 (snare). She lives in Seguin with her French Bulldog, Maybelline and recently got engaged to her fiance Zack Felten!

NBMS ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR
Allie Wittman
Ms. Wittman first discovered her passion for playing the clarinet as a middle school student of the Mighty Tiger Band in Dripping Springs, TX. In high school, she served the band program in several leadership roles, including clarinet section leader, assistant drum major, and principal clarinet in the Wind Ensemble. In 2014, she began studying Music Education at Texas Lutheran University with Profs. Paula Corley and Beth Bronk. During her time at TLU, Ms. Wittman was an active participant in several musical ensembles, including Wind Ensemble, pep band, and full orchestra. She served as student conductor for both the Bulldog pep band and Symphonic Band and held cabinet positions in multiple student organizations.
After graduating in 2018, she began her career as the Assistant Band Director at Bee Cave Middle School in Lake Travis ISD, where she taught beginner woodwind classes and conducted the non-varsity band. In 2023, Ms. Wittman joined the NBISD family as Assistant Band Director at New Braunfels Middle School. Ensembles under her direction have consistently received Excellent and Superior ratings at UIL C&SR Evaluation. In 2025, Ms. Wittman completed a masters degree in Educational Leadership from Texas State University, and she has future aspirations of becoming a Fine Arts administrator to continue to advocate for high-quality music education at the district, regional, and state levels. In her free time, Ms. Wittman plays bass clarinet with the Comal Community Band and enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her pets and family.

NBMS ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR
Peter Johannigman
Peter Johannigman is in his fifth year at New Braunfels Middle School, where in different years he has taught the Varsity, Honor, and Concert bands, as well as beginner clarinet, saxophone, double reed, french horn, trombone, and low brass classes. Under his direction, the NBMS Concert band recently participated in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation, earning a Sweepstakes distinction. This was NBMS’ first time taking 4 band to UIL, which is almost unheard of among middle school band programs.
Mr. Johannigman also proudly serves in the Texas Army National Guard as a member of the 36th Infantry Division’s “Lonestar Band.” He is a Sergeant and serves primarily as a euphonium player, in addition to occasional performances on tuba and on bugle for military funeral honors. This band is a five-time recipient of The Colonel George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence for Military Concert Band and has performed at the Texas Music Educator’s Association convention, across the state, and in Southern France as part of WW2 Commemorations.
Before moving to New Braunfels, Mr. Johannigman spent 3 years as an assistant band director at Thornton Middle School in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. He is a graduate of both Rice University with a B.A. in Cognitive Sciences and Sam Houston State University with a B.M. in Music Education, and proudly served as a drum major with both universities’ marching bands. He lives here in New Braunfels with his wife, Allie, and enjoys playing board/video games and watching movies.
